Umbria

Umbria, known as the "green heart" of Italy, is one of the smallest Italian regions.

The landscape of rare beauty, is characterized by valleys, mountain ranges, plateaus, plains and dominated by a mild climate.

The Tiber valley and the Umbrian valley separating the Apennine mountains to the east and west Subappennino.

In the mountainous region some valleys once occupied by lakes, like the Trasimeno, one of the largest Italian lake. The other basins such as that of the Terni and Gubbio are floodplains.
